Switch the house's energy plan without anyone owning the job

Send Homerun the house's electricity or gas bill, on the Switch page, in the app or over WhatsApp. We compare it against plans from a panel of energy retailers, not the whole market, and if the house wants to move, we handle the switch.

No spam. No sales calls. Compare panel of retailers, powered by comparison partner CIMET.

YouHere's our power bill, can you check it?

HomerunOn it. I'll compare it against plans from our panel of retailers and come back with what the house could move to. Want me to?

YouYes please

Nobody in the house owns the energy plan. So nobody looks at it.

SamPower bill is $152 this quarter?? It was $118 last time

YouWho's our provider even

Plenty of sharehouses sign up for an energy plan once and never look at it again, while the rate quietly creeps up. The account's in one person's name, the bill lands in their inbox, and comparing plans is the kind of job that belongs to everyone, so it belongs to nobody.

Some customers may be paying more than necessary because lower-priced plans or offers are available from other retailers. The ACCC puts that at around $221 a year for households that stay on the same plan for years (2025 average, your bill will vary). Finding out takes a bill and a few minutes.

What sharers told us

81.2%

of sharers split the electricity bill with their housemates.

Electricity is the cost a house is most likely to share, which makes it the one bill worth checking together. Nobody has to own it.

  • 39.9%

have paid more than their share of a bill

From the Sharehouse Generation Report 2026, a survey of 3,562 Australians actively forming or reforming a sharehouse, recruited through Flatmate Finders and Homerun. Not a representative national sample.

How bill switching works

  1. YouHere's our power bill 📎

HomerunGot it. Give me a few minutes.

Send Homerun the bill or compare using Switch

A photo or a PDF of the house's electricity or gas bill. On the Homerun Switch page, in the app, or by texting it to Homerun on WhatsApp.

Illustrative. Your bill depends on your usage and plan. Comparisons are limited to the CIMET panel, not the whole market.

    We compare it

We read what the house is on and compare it against plans from a panel of energy retailers. Not all retailers or plans in the market are compared. Pricing and eligibility may vary by location, retailer and tariffs.

  3. The Homerun assistant in the app, with suggested questions: who is behind on rent, draft a message to the landlord, are we overpaying for gas

    The house picks

You get a straight answer, not a sales call. If a plan on the panel works better for the house, choose it. If nothing does, stay put. No spam, no follow-up pitch.

  4. Switch requested

Your new retailer confirms the start date. No interruption to supply.

    We handle the switch

Confirm the details and our comparison partner completes the switch with the new retailer. Nothing changes at the house. Same wires, same meter, no interruption to supply.

What bill switching handles

  • Electricity and gas

Both, for the same address, from the same bill upload.

  • A house on one bill

The account stays in whoever's name it's in. The comparison is for the whole house's usage, because that's what the bill shows.

  • Three ways in

The Homerun Switch page, the app, or a photo texted to Homerun on WhatsApp. Same panel, same comparison.

  • A straight answer

We won't chase your details for a sales call. Just a straight answer on your energy queries.

  • The switch itself

Pick a plan and the switch is completed with the new retailer by our comparison partner. No forms to chase, no call to make.

  • The record

The new plan, the date it starts and the bill that prompted it stay in the house's record, for whoever's on the lease next.

Checking the energy plan, the old way and with Homerun

The old way

  1. The bill lands in one person's inbox, and they pay it
  2. Someone says the house should compare plans. Everyone agrees
  3. Nobody does, because it's nobody's job
  4. The next quarter's bill is higher. Same conversation
  5. The account's still on the plan it was set up on the day you moved in

With Homerun

  1. Send Homerun the bill
  2. Get the comparison, pick a plan or stay put
  3. The switch is handled for you

The WhatsApp assistant

Text it the bill

Send a photo of the energy bill to Homerun on WhatsApp. It reads what the house is on, compares it against plans from a panel of retailers and, if you want, sorts the switch. Same comparison as the Switch page, in the chat the house already uses.

YouGas bill attached. Are we on an ok plan?

HomerunLet me check it against our panel of retailers. Back to you in a few minutes with what the house could move to, or a thumbs up if you're fine where you are.

Common questions

Do you compare every energy retailer?

No. We compare plans from a panel of energy retailers, not the whole market. Not all retailers or plans in the market are compared, and pricing and eligibility may vary by location, retailer and tariffs. The comparison is powered by our comparison partner, CIMET.

Will we save money?

We can't promise that. Some customers may be paying more than necessary because lower-priced plans or offers are available from other retailers, and the comparison shows you whether that's your house. If nothing on the panel works better, the right answer is to stay put, and we'll say so.

Does it cost anything?

Comparing and switching through Homerun is free for the house. If you proceed with a retailer plan through Homerun, Sharehouse Pro Pty Ltd, CIMET Sales and CIMET Sales partners may each receive a referral fee from the retailer.

Does the account have to be in my name?

The switch is made on the account holder's behalf, so whoever's name is on the bill confirms it. Anyone in the house can send the bill in and get the comparison.

Will the power go off when we switch?

No. Switching retailer changes who bills you, not the wires or the meter. Supply continues as normal.

Will you call me?

We won't chase your details for a sales call. Just a straight answer on your energy queries. You may be contacted about a plan you choose to apply for, and that's it.

Send us the bill.

A few minutes, a straight answer, and the switch handled if the house wants it.
